Nuits Saint Georges
Vieilles Vignes
Red wines from Nuits-Saint-Georges almost always have a dark and intense color. Their aromas are powerful and complex, mixing simultaneously cherries, blackcurrants, fur, truffles and spices. They are among the most tannic Burgundies. The combination of tannin and body makes for big, solid wines.
The Vineyard
Vineyard placement and geology : Brown clay and limestone.
Vine age : 45 years on average
Yield and production : 35-40 hl/ha for an average annual production of 3000 bottles.
The wine
Vinification : Hand-harvested and scrupulously sorted, the wine is fermented in open stainless steel tanks for around three weeks, then matured in oak barrels, about 50% new, for 18 months.
Tasting notes
To the eye, the wine is purple with flashes of light.
Typical Nuits nose of small red fruits such as sour cherries and other pitted fruits. Eucalyptus notes add a certain freshness.
On the palate, the tannins are noticeable and the structure firm, but a crunchy fruitiness awakes the appetite. Medium in length.
