Between our two spots of vineyard, Nuits/Chambolle we are very happy to produce this Vougeot. It's a good transition between a bottle of Chambolle and a bottle of Nuits...!

The Vineyard

Vineyard placement and geology : Les Cras is found to the north or, and not far from, the wall of the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Limestone dominates the sold, with a stony surface resting on a bed of clay.
Vine age : 45 years on average
Yield and production : 30-35 hl/ha for an average annual production of 2000 bottles

The wine

Vinification
Hand-harvested and scrupulously sorted, the wine is fermented in open stainless steel tanks for around three weeks, then matured in oak barrels, about 50% new, for 18 months.

Tasting notes
To the eye, the wine is deeply colored, with flashes of light.
Small red fruits, notably sour cherries, dominate the nose.
On the palate, the concentration of a 1er Cru is noticeable from the first sip. Full-bodied, yet with round tannins, the long finish is supported by the wine’s minerality, which adds to its complexity.

Drinking tips
Its firm and elegant structure goes beautifully with more exotic meat dishes such as rabbit stew, leg of venison, or beef stroganoff.
Serve at around 16C-17C. Will age well for 5-15 years.
